Here’s Every Song That Pusha-T Has Been Featured on in 2019

354 min read

Hip-hop has always shed light on the more lyrically sharp rappers in its history. In the case of Pusha-T, he’s managed to stay around for nearly two decades, first being introduced to the world in 2002, alongside his brother Malice (now No Malice) as the rap duo The Clipse. Ever since his performance on their first hit single, “Grindin,” Pusha’s knack for wordplay has been evident.

Embarking on a solo career in 2010, Pusha began to earn even more praise and acclaim. He signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music, where he’d eventually serve as president. After a flurry of releases in the 2010s, Pusha dropped Daytona, his most critically acclaimed album to date. Fully produced by Kanye West, the 2018 album remained in the conversation for rap album of the year, a well-sequenced meshing of Pusha’s brooding style and Ye’s inventive sample chops. The album’s reception and Pusha’s long-boiling beef with rap superstar Drake nudged him into rarefied air; he was always respected, but now he was widely seen as one of the true stalwarts of lyrical hip-hop.

With this moment in the sun come the calls from other rappers. In 2019, Pusha-T hasn’t hesitated to show out on other artists’ songs. He’s jumped on tracks with 2019 XXL Freshman YBN Cordae, Freddie Gibbs, Benny The Butcher and others. Pusha’s run hasn’t been without controversy though, as his verse on Rick Ross’ “Maybach Music VI” was mysteriously cut from Port of Miami 2. There’s some speculation that it may be tied to Pusha-T and Lil Wayne’s decade-plus long beef, but who knows.

Seeing a veteran who still very much loves the game is something to be celebrated, so here, XXL rounds up all of the feature verses he’s dropped this year. Catch them below.
