I have been waiting for this one. 1929 is a historical period drama on the “Aba Women’s Riot of 1929,” which saw women from several parts of Eastern-Nigeria protest the introduction of direct taxes, local courts, and warrant chiefs, who were accused of limiting the role of women in government.

This movie, directed by Moses Ekor, focuses on Ikot Abasi Women from the Opobo district in now Rivers State.

A true-life story set on the Ikot Abasi women, Opobo Division unrest of 1929 that claimed the lives of many women protesters across the eastern part of Nigeria.
