“R100K”: DJ Tshegu responds to critics claiming she can’t produce music

DJ Tshegu Dared to Produce Music for R100k

DJ Tshegu, real name Tshegofatso Phetlhu, has been called out by a critic for being a producer.

During a recent conversation on Piano Pulse, a podcast under the Podcast and Chill network, one of the podcasters discussed women who are DJs but also claim to be producers.

Tshegu was dragged on the platform, with claims that she cannot produce a song.

The podcaster dared the DJ, stating he would give her R100,000 if she could produce a song in his studio.

The claim garnered mixed reactions, with some joining in to poke fun, while others defended DJ Tshegu.

“Does the guy understand that there is a difference between producing and beat-making? You don’t necessarily have to make the beat to produce a song. Does he think Maphorisa or DJ Khaled make beats?” a Twitter user wrote.

“Not all female DJs can’t produce. Thandi Draai is a great Afro house producer, and she can sing as well,” another wrote.

“Don’t take that money, Tshegu. Let your work speak for itself, and if they don’t believe, it’s fine. You don’t need to convince them because they’ve already made assumptions. Wena, pusha spaan. Ka lerato leo,” a fan said to the DJ.

DJ Tshegu laughed off the claim.
