6ix9ine‘s story is getting its own docuseries.

Following news of signing a $10 million record deal while still behind bars, Showtime announced in a press release today (Oct. 17) that they will be premiering a three-part docuseries profiling 6ix9ine. The series has been titled SuperVillain, and according to the press release, the series “will trace how a New York City deli clerk named Daniel Hernandez exploded into Tekashi 6ix9ine, the tattooed face of Gen Z and hip hop’s prince of trolls.” Showtime’s EVP of Nonfiction Programming, Vinnie Malhotra, explained why they chose to produce the series.

“The bizarre and complicated rise of Tekashi 6ix9ine is a story of our times,” Malhotra said in a statement. “Beyond becoming one of the most notorious hip hop artists of this generation, his story speaks volumes of the impact of social media and manufactured celebrity in our society. We’re excited to be partnering with such heavy hitters in the world of music and documentary to bring Supervillain to life.”

Showtime has tapped Imagine Documentaries, Rolling Stone and Lightbox to produce the series. In a statement, Imagine Documentaries President Justin Wilkes said 6ix9ine’s story “haunted” them.

“Tekashi’s story has haunted us since we first read Stephen Witt’s brilliant article in Rolling Stone,” Wilkes said. “It’s a tale that’s emblematic of our times and we’re honored to be partnered with Showtime, Rolling Stone along with the fantastic filmmaking team at Lightbox in bringing it to life.”

Though many further details have not yet been announced, the press release does note that the series “will provide viewers with a detailed perspective into Tekashi 6ix9ine’s epic rise and fall from those closest to him.” It is unclear who they will be speaking with as of press time.
